Nutrition Summit Set to Unite Government Leaders in Addressing Child Nutrition
The National Nutrition Summit 2025 will be held from 1st–3rd December in Port Moresby, bringing together national leaders, development partners, and provincial representatives to address child malnutrition through a unified, multisectoral approach.
The Summit, themed "United for a Stunting-free Future - Accelerating Nutrition Action in Papua New Guinea", organized by the Child Nutrition and Social Protection Project (CNSP) — a Government of PNG and World Bank-financed initiative — will highlight how coordinated action across the Department of Justice and Attorney General (DJAG), Department of Health (NDoH), and Department for Community Development and Religion (DfCDR) can reduce stunting and improve child wellbeing.
With 1 in 2 children under the age of five years in PNG affected by stunted growth, the Summit will serve as a national platform to review data, share global best practices, and build joint policy and program commitments.
The three-day event will conclude with the signing of a "Declaration on Child Nutrition in Papua New Guinea," outlining priority actions for 2026 and reaffirming national commitment to ending stunting in PNG.
